The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is actively working towards enhancing food safety and quality standards for the pilgrims who visit Tirumala. Collaborating with the food safety department, the temple trust is providing training sessions for the Annaprasadam staff, hoteliers, and vendors in Tirumala. During an awareness meeting held in Tirumala, TTD Executive Officer Syamala Rao reiterated the organization’s dedication to elevating food safety protocols. Rao assured pilgrims of access to hygienic, nutritious, and delicious meals at fair prices.

Food safety director Purnachandra Rao discussed the importance of adhering to proper hygienic and sanitary practices in restaurants and eateries in Tirumala, emphasizing the potential risks from physical, chemical, and biological contaminants in food. He also elaborated on the consequences of breaching food safety regulations. EO Syamala Rao set a deadline of August 5 for all Big and Janata Canteen operators to conform to the specified food safety standards, requiring them to prominently display price lists for all items on their menus to avoid penalties.

Additionally, Rao urged the Andhra Pradesh tourism development corporation to increase the number of hotels they operate as a model of cleanliness, quality, and quantity for others to emulate. TTD is considering extending food safety training to smaller hotel operators and vendors in Tirumala. Present at the meeting were JEO Veerabrahmam, Deputy EO (Health) Asha Jyothi, Additional Health Officer Sunil Kumar, Deputy EO Vijayalakshmi, and Catering Special Officer GLN Shastry.
