Salaried employees are familiar with Provident Fund (PF). Every month employee’s basic salary and 12 percent of DA are deposited in PF account. Apart from this, your employer (company) also contributes the same amount from its side. Out of this 12 percent deposited by the employer, 3.67 percent goes to your PF account and the remaining 8.33 percent goes to the pension scheme.

You can check your PF account balance in very simple ways. Let’s find out:

  1. SMS Method: EPFO members can check their PF account balance and the latest contribution in their account by sending an SMS to 7738299899. Simply type AN EPFOHO ENG from the registered number and send the message. Here, ENG stands for English language. For a different language, type the first three letters of that language.
  2. Missed Call Method: If your mobile number is registered with UAN, you can check the PF balance by giving a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. After making a missed call to this number, you will receive messages from EPFO showing the balance of your PF accounts.
  3. Umang App: Employees can check their PF balance by downloading the Umang app on their smartphone. Users can submit claims, view their EPF passbook, and track their claims through this app. Simply enter your phone number in the app and complete a one-time registration.
  4. EPFO Portal: Visit the EPFO website, click on the Employees section, and then access the Member Passbook. By entering your UAN and password, you can view your PF Passbook, which displays the opening and closing balance, employee and employer contributions, as well as any PF transfer amount and accrued PF interest amount.
