BEML is currently in the process of developing the initial model of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. The unveiling of the train is scheduled to take place in the coming months. Following this milestone, the company has formulated various strategies. Vande Bharat is planning to export trains to regions such as the Middle East, South America, and Asia. These regions are key targets for the company’s global expansion efforts.

Countries like Japan, China, and America are often referred to as technology powerhouses due to their significant exports worldwide. India is now positioning itself to compete in this arena. The State-owned Heavy Equipment Manufacturing Corporation (BEML) has devised comprehensive plans to facilitate this expansion. Vande Bharat aims to enhance its global presence by exporting metro trains, with a particular emphasis on the defense, rail, and metro sectors.

BEML’s Chairman, Shantanu Roy, shared details of the export strategy in a recent interview. The company is focused on boosting exports to achieve its set objectives. Operational enhancements have been implemented within BEML to drive growth, with a specific focus on sectors such as mining, construction, defense, rail, and metro. To streamline operations further, 11 Strategic Business Units (SBUs) have been established for these sectors.

The changes within BEML have led to notable financial improvements. The company’s consolidated net loss for the quarter ending June 30, 2024, has decreased to Rs. 70 crores, accompanied by a 10% increase in revenue. These developments signify a significant advancement for BEML, prompting the company to set ambitious goals for the future. BEML anticipates achieving an EBITDA growth of 16-17%, up from the current 13%, with a strategic focus on the rail, metro, and defense sectors, a vision supported by economic experts.
