In recent times, elevated blood pressure has become increasingly common. Numerous individuals experience high blood pressure at a young age due to various lifestyle factors. Not everyone is aware of the symptoms associated with high blood pressure, underscoring the importance of periodic blood pressure testing. It is essential for individuals taking medication for high blood pressure to be well-informed about certain aspects.

Numerous research studies have indicated that initiating blood pressure medication early can help individuals prevent heart issues and strokes. However, individuals using blood pressure medication should adhere to specific guidelines provided by renowned nephrologist P.S.

One crucial guideline is to consistently take the medication throughout the day as prescribed. Medications designated for nighttime usage should be taken at night to avoid confusion within the body’s systems. Another important point for individuals on blood pressure medication is recognizing that conditions like severe diarrhea, vomiting, or high fever can elevate blood pressure. Hence, on such occasions, medication should only be taken if blood pressure readings are above normal after checking at home.

Significant dietary changes can also lead to fluctuations in blood pressure. Whether reducing salt intake drastically or consuming excess salt, regular monitoring of blood pressure at home is essential. Any variations in blood pressure should be promptly communicated to the doctor for appropriate adjustments in medication dosage as per their guidance.

Dr. PS Wali emphasized that adhering to these precautions can significantly mitigate the side effects associated with blood pressure medication.
