A tragic love story from East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, has left a community in shock as a young woman, Yamini, ended her life after her boyfriend, Umamaheswara Rao, married another woman. The heartbreaking incident occurred in the Kakinada Godari Gunta area and sheds light on the devastating consequences of unreciprocated love.
Yamini, 24, met Umamaheswara Rao from Kothapalli in 2017, and the two fell in love shortly after. Over the years, their relationship deepened, with Yamini displaying extreme affection towards Rao. She believed their love would lead to marriage, but her dreams were shattered when Umamaheswara Rao’s family refused to approve of their union.
Despite her efforts to convince him to marry her, Umamaheswara Rao recently got engaged to another woman. Heartbroken and feeling betrayed, Yamini confronted him. In a desperate plea, she begged him to marry her, saying she couldn’t live without him. Rao, however, responded coldly, telling her not to interfere with his upcoming marriage, even if it meant her death.
Distraught and devastated, Yamini went to a fertilizer shop to buy insecticide. To her disbelief, Umamaheswara Rao followed her and even paid for the pesticides, leaving her in further emotional turmoil. Overcome by despair, Yamini consumed the poison and tragically lost her life.
The grief-stricken parents of Yamini found incriminating messages on her phone and immediately filed a complaint against Umamaheswara Rao. The police have since arrested him, and he now faces charges of abetment of suicide.
This tragic event has sparked widespread sorrow and raised concerns about the emotional toll that unreciprocated love and betrayal can have on individuals, particularly young women.
