In today’s world, the concern over what goes into the food we eat, especially when dining out, has never been higher. Parents, in particular, are increasingly aware of the need for caution when it comes to the nutrition of their children. With this in mind, many are turning to preparing meals at home, ensuring quality and safety without compromising on taste.

One popular snack among children is biscuits, and making them at home can be a fun and rewarding experience. While there are various types of biscuits one can make, let’s delve into the recipe for ginger biscuits, specifically jaggery biscuits. These biscuits are not only delicious but also a healthier option, especially for those looking to reduce their sugar intake or for diabetic individuals.

Ingredients for Ginger Biscuits:

  • Jaggery
  • Milk
  • Wheat flour
  • Butter or ghee
  • Baking powder
  • Salt

How to Make Jaggery Biscuits:

  1. Begin by taking a wide bowl and combining wheat flour, jaggery powder, a pinch of salt, a bit of baking soda, and mixing them thoroughly.
  2. Incorporate ghee or butter into the dry ingredients and mix well until combined.
  3. Gradually add milk to the mixture, stirring continuously to form a thick, paste-like dough similar to chapati dough.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut it into biscuit shapes of your choice.
  5. These biscuits can be baked in an oven preheated to 160 degrees Celsius or without an oven using a kadai or cooker method.

For those opting to use the kadai or cooker method, simply follow these steps:

  • Place a layer of salt in the kadai or cooker and heat it.
  • Put a stand or bowl in the center and place a plate of biscuits on top.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for approximately 20 minutes until the biscuits are ready.

These homemade jaggery biscuits offer a sweet treat that kids adore while providing a healthier alternative to store-bought options. By taking the time to prepare food at home, parents can ensure the quality and safety of what their children consume, making mealtime a delightful and wholesome experience for the whole family.
