The new year kicked off with a bang for the Telugu film industry, thanks to the Sankranti movie celebrations. With the blockbuster Game Changer opening the box office run, films like Daaku Maharaj and Sankranti Ki Vastaam elevated the excitement to its peak. The upcoming week looks relatively quieter at the box office, indicating that the festive fervor will continue until the end of the month.
Post-Sankranti, a new season of entertainment is set to begin on the silver screen. Typically, attention shifts to the summer releases after Sankranti, with February to March being exam season, resulting in a slowdown in theater attendance. During this period, smaller films take the spotlight, while big stars prepare for box office dominance from March onward.
However, this February promises to be different, with films offering festive-like entertainment. The Telugu film industry, which has turned February into a month of success with hits like Uppena, Naandhi, DJ Tillu, Bheemla Nayak, and Ooru Peru Bhairavakona, is set to continue its winning streak.
January will wrap up with Gandhi Thatha Chettu and Identity, followed by Ajith’s Pattudhala and Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel in February. Among these, Ajith’s dubbed film will hit theaters first on February 6. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions, this action thriller has already created a buzz among Telugu audiences. Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel, releasing on February 7, promises an intriguing mix of patriotism and romance, starring Sai Pallavi alongside him.
The second week of February, coinciding with Valentine’s Day, will see three romantic films competing at the box office: Vishwak Sen’s Laila, Kiran Abbavaram’s Dil Rubaa, and Raja Gautham-Brahmanandam’s Brahma Anandam.
Later in February, festive releases like Sundeep Kishan’s Majaka and Dhanush’s directorial Jabilamma Neeku Antha Kopama are set to entertain audiences. The month will conclude with Aadhi Pinisetty’s Shabdam, a horror thriller, releasing on February 28.
