Bollywood star Ananya Panday recently opened up about her quirky superstition of removing the ‘nazar’ (evil eye) every single week, sharing a glimpse into her personal life with fans. In a candid conversation with comedian Raunaq Rajani on Netflix India’s YouTube channel, Ananya revealed that she follows a unique ritual involving chili peppers to protect herself from the negative energies of the evil eye.
Ananya explained the process, saying, “I take out my nazar every week. The help at my house does the mirchi thing. You know the mirchi thing? So, if it smells a lot, it means you have nazar. If the mirchi burns a lot, you have nazar. I don’t know the science behind it, but my mom always makes sure I’m protected.” The actress also shared a funny anecdote, noting, “My mom put two black dots behind my ears before I came here. Everyone thinks I don’t shower or have something dirty behind my ear, but my mom keeps putting it again and again!”
Ananya’s candid revelation highlights a long-standing family belief in superstitions and rituals. Fans of “The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” on Netflix will already be familiar with the Panday family’s unusual habits, which have been featured on the show. Cousin Alanna Panday also often showcases these traditions in her vlogs. The family’s superstitions were once again a topic of discussion in a recent video with director Farah Khan on her YouTube channel.
While superstitions may seem strange to some, Ananya’s openness about her quirky rituals shows how connected she remains to her family’s traditions, even amidst her glitzy Bollywood life. Whether or not you believe in the ‘nazar,’ Ananya’s approach to handling it sure adds an interesting layer to her vibrant personality!
