Ashok Galla, who captured attention with his Tollywood debut Hero, is not just another star on the rise. Soft-spoken and gentle by nature, Ashok has the rare ability to light up the screen with his presence. Reflecting on his journey, the actor shares, “Initially, I was naïve, thinking acting was just about doing my job. But I’ve realized there’s so much more. Acting is challenging—there are days when I feel dull sitting at home and others when I’m thrilled to step onto the set.”

He adds that maintaining confidence is the hardest part of being an actor. Coming from a family deeply rooted in politics, business, and cinema—his grandfather being the legendary actor Krishna and his uncle, superstar Mahesh Babu—expectations weigh heavy on him. “It’s an unwanted pressure, but I take it in stride. I stay natural and absorb what comes. I am still proving myself,” he admits.

On Uncle Mahesh Babu

Ashok shares a special bond with his uncle, Mahesh Babu, but their conversations rarely revolve around films. “He talks about life in general, and I’ve learned a lot just by observing him. Self-confidence is the best quality I’ve imbibed from him. Even during tough times, he remains strong because he believes in himself. That’s something I’ve tried to incorporate into my life.”

Preparing for Devaki Nandana Vasudeva

Ashok recently underwent a major physical transformation for his upcoming film Devaki Nandana Vasudeva. After completing the first schedule, he realized the magnitude of the project. “Prasanth Varma, who wrote the script, insisted I gain muscle and look leaner. As the film progressed, I grew more confident,” he reveals. He also teases that the film’s gripping screenplay, filled with twists and turns, will keep audiences hooked.

His 3 AM Friend

Despite his influential family background, Ashok prefers a quieter life, calling himself an introvert. Networking doesn’t come easily to him, and he’s still getting used to social media. However, he has a solid support system in Rana Daggubati, whom he calls his “3 a.m. friend.” “If I’m in trouble or need advice, I call Rana. I share a great comfort level with him,” Ashok says, grateful for the camaraderie.

Ashok Galla is on a promising path, learning and growing with each step. With his determination to stay grounded and his dedication to the craft, he’s set to make his mark in Tollywood and beyond.
