Kona Venkat Demands Apology from Konda Surekha for Derogatory Comments Against Akkineni Family and Tollywood

Renowned writer-turned-producer Kona Venkat has strongly called for an unconditional apology from Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for her derogatory remarks against the Akkineni family, Samantha, and other Tollywood actresses. In a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, Kona Venkat voiced his disappointment, emphasizing that simply apologizing to Samantha is far from sufficient. He insists that her comments not only hurt the dignity of Samantha but also insulted the entire Akkineni family, including prominent figures like Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya, as well as their fans.

Kona Venkat expressed deep concern that Konda Surekha’s baseless allegations have tarnished the reputation of Tollywood, a film industry that has garnered global recognition. He underscored how Telugu stars have made an impact on a worldwide stage, and that false accusations of this nature have dented their image. He also noted that Konda Surekha’s position as a minister demands a level of respect and responsibility, and her inflammatory comments have brought shame to both the office she holds and the broader Congress party in Telangana.

Venkat added that despite Konda Surekha’s claim of friendship with Telangana Congress President Revanth Reddy, he plans to escalate the issue further by bringing it to the attention of Congress party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. He intends to formally lodge a complaint, demanding Konda Surekha’s removal from her ministerial position due to the disgrace she has brought upon the Congress government in Telangana.

Reflecting on Konda Surekha’s past, Kona Venkat recalled her time as a firebrand politician during the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime, noting that she had previously earned respect for her strong leadership. However, with these recent comments, she has significantly damaged her own reputation. Kona Venkat urged the Congress high command to take serious action and ensure accountability.

Kona Venkat’s strong words represent a united stand on behalf of Tollywood and the Akkineni family, and it remains to be seen how the Congress leadership will respond to these demands.
