Bollywood actress and producer Kriti Sanon has captured the spotlight with her latest project, Do Patti, a film that dives into the complexities of sibling rivalry while shedding light on critical issues such as domestic violence and the abuse of women. In this unique dual-role movie, Kriti also makes a strong statement as a producer, passionately sharing, “I want to tell stories that need to be told, that have a heart.” Her goal isn’t just to entertain but to amplify voices and stories that resonate with audiences on a deeper level. With layered characters and a compelling narrative, Do Patti has opened to mixed reviews, yet Kriti finds fulfillment in exploring impactful themes and ambitious storytelling.

The past year has been incredibly rewarding for Kriti, with box office successes like the heist comedy Crew and the twisty rom-com Teri Baaton Mein Uljha Jiya. For Kriti, these achievements are indicative of a broader trend where content-driven films are ruling over star power. “Success or failure has gone beyond the stardom of the actor. The content is the true star,” she explains. She advocates for an industry shift, hoping for a time when a film’s success is celebrated based on its merits rather than the gender of its lead actor. Kriti firmly believes that female-driven films should receive the same investment and opportunities as male-driven projects, arguing that risk should not be a gendered concept.

Kriti’s journey from her debut in Heropanti to a game-changing performance in Bareilly Ki Barfi and winning the National Award for Best Actress for Mimi has been remarkable. As an outsider, she acknowledges how far she’s come, sharing, “I’m no longer operating from a place of insecurity or seeking validation.” Known now as a versatile performer, Kriti embraces roles that showcase her range and avoid typecasting. She’s proud of her evolution and says, “It all comes down to the kind of actor you want to be perceived as.”

Off-screen, Kriti continues to break boundaries with her entrepreneurial pursuits, co-founding a beauty brand and clothing line with her sister, Noopur. Unlike the sibling dynamics in Do Patti, Kriti and Noopur share a close and supportive bond, although, as Kriti puts it, “We have our disagreements and fights, like all siblings do. She’s also my best friend.”

Looking ahead, Kriti has her sights set on more ambitious roles, including intense love stories, action-packed “superwoman” characters, and even a lighthearted comedy. Her upcoming Diwali season will be filled with promotions for Do Patti, and while she hints at an exciting new project on the horizon, Kriti is keeping the details under wraps. As she continues to redefine her career and make waves in the industry, Kriti Sanon proves herself as an actor, entrepreneur, and visionary with stories that truly matter.
