Actress Kasturi, who is also a BJP leader, has recently come under intense scrutiny after her remarks at a Brahmin Samaj meeting in Chennai. In her speech, Kasturi criticized the Telugu people who had settled in Tamil Nadu, claiming that some of them had come to the state decades ago to offer services, but now are turning political wheels. She also stated that Tamil Nadu is speaking and moving forward because of the Telugu population’s contributions. These comments, perceived as derogatory by many, sparked a massive uproar, especially among Telugu organizations in Tamil Nadu.

The controversy has led to strong reactions from both the public and political leaders. Telugu organizations have organized protests, accusing Kasturi of deepening the divide between Tamil and Telugu people in Tamil Nadu. The police have taken the matter seriously, registering cases against her under various sections. The issue escalated further when calls for her arrest became widespread.

In response to the mounting pressure, Kasturi fled Tamil Nadu to avoid arrest, after the police attempted to serve her with a notice. When police visited her home, they found it locked, and attempts to contact her by phone were unsuccessful. It was soon discovered that she had gone into hiding, possibly to avoid being taken into custody.

As the case progressed, Kasturi approached the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court for an injunction to prevent her arrest. During the court proceedings, the judges expressed strong anger over her remarks. The court questioned how Kasturi could make such claims without any solid evidence, especially when addressing a gathering of only ten people. The Madras High Court’s Madurai Bench emphasized that the Telugu community in Tamil Nadu is an integral part of the state’s development, not a group of immigrants, as Kasturi had suggested.

Judge Pilakaveka of the Madurai Bench criticized the actress, stating that Telugu people have been a vital part of Tamil Nadu’s culture and progress. The court also asked the police about the actions they had taken in response to Kasturi’s comments, including whether her statements had been removed from social media.

The case has stirred considerable debate about the relationship between the Tamil and Telugu communities in the state. The Madras High Court’s response has placed the spotlight on Kasturi’s controversial statements, and many are eagerly awaiting further developments. It remains to be seen whether the actress will face arrest or if she can avoid legal repercussions through her ongoing court battle.
