The Kollywood industry is buzzing with controversy after actress Nayanthara accused actor Dhanush of obstructing the release of her much-anticipated wedding documentary. The documentary, capturing the moments of Nayanthara’s wedding to director Vignesh Shivan, was slated for release on Netflix but has been delayed for over two years.

The Allegations

Taking to Instagram, Nayanthara alleged that Dhanush demanded ₹10 crore for granting a no-objection certificate (NOC) to use visuals, songs, and scenes from their hit film Naanum Rowdy Dhan in the Netflix documentary. She claimed that the actor’s refusal to provide the NOC has effectively blocked the release of the project, leaving fans and audiences disappointed.

Netflix recently released the trailer for the documentary, reigniting discussions around the delay. However, the allegations shared by Nayanthara have now cast a shadow over the project.

A Viral Clip Adds Fuel to the Fire

Amid the controversy, a video clip from a 2013 interview featuring Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan has gone viral on social media. In the interview on Koffee with DD, Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan praised Nayanthara for her professionalism and generosity during the making of the film Ethir Neechal.

Sivakarthikeyan revealed that Nayanthara had agreed to perform a special song for the film without hesitation. Dhanush added, “She didn’t even ask for money for the song. She said, ‘You are my friend, I don’t take money,’ and she did the song for free.”

This video has sparked mixed reactions among fans, with many drawing comparisons between her past generosity and the current dispute.

Kollywood Divided

The allegations have divided opinions within the industry and among fans. While some sympathize with Nayanthara, seeing her as a victim of unreasonable demands, others argue that contractual issues between artists should not affect creative projects.

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan tied the knot in 2022 and are parents to twin boys. The documentary, which was expected to offer a personal glimpse into their wedding and life together, remains in limbo as the controversy unfolds.

What’s Next?

Neither Dhanush nor his representatives have officially commented on the allegations. Fans are now awaiting clarification or a resolution to the dispute, which has overshadowed the excitement surrounding the documentary’s release.
