Bollywood’s beloved superstar Salman Khan is on a roll, juggling multiple film projects while also hosting the popular reality show Bigg Boss. One of the standout films in his illustrious career is the romantic drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which was released in 2015. Directed by Suraj Barjatya, this film not only garnered immense box office success but also featured a musical score that became a hit in its own right. This collaboration marked the fourth outing between Salman and Barjatya, following the success of classics like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, and Hum Saath Saath Hai.

A Closer Look at ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo featured Sonam Kapoor as the female lead opposite Salman Khan. Interestingly, there was a point where Salman hesitated to cast Sonam due to their significant age difference—almost 20 years. Salman was quoted saying, “How can I act with a girl like my daughter?” This age gap became a topic of discussion, especially since Sonam was born when Salman was already 20 years old.

In a recent interview, director Suraj Barjatya opened up about the casting process, revealing that he initially suggested several actresses for the role but ultimately believed Sonam would be the best fit after watching her performance in Ranjhanaa. “We discussed which heroine would be suitable for Sallu. After much consideration, I felt Sonam was the right actress. But convincing Salman took some time,” he explained.

Suraj recounted the challenges of persuading Salman to accept Sonam, noting that Salman requested to discuss the casting decision with Sonam’s father, Anil Kapoor. After Anil endorsed the choice, Salman eventually agreed to work with Sonam, leading to the successful film we know today.

The Road Ahead: ‘Sikander’

Currently, Salman Khan is gearing up for his next project, Sikander, where he will star alongside Rashmika Mandanna. With high expectations from fans and the promise of another blockbuster, this film is set to continue Salman’s legacy in the industry.

Salman Khan’s ability to evolve with changing times while maintaining strong relationships in Bollywood is a testament to his charisma and adaptability. His journey from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo to Sikander showcases the complexities of casting in an industry that often grapples with age-related biases and expectations.

As Salman navigates his multifaceted career, his connection with audiences—both young and old—remains steadfast, making him one of the most cherished figures in Bollywood.
