Sushila, a renowned recipient of the Padma Bhushan award, captivated music enthusiasts with her rendition of numerous enchanting melodies within the Telugu film domain. With a repertoire exceeding 40,000 songs across 9 languages, encompassing Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi in addition to Telugu, she lent her voice to iconic actresses like Savitri, Padmini, and Sarojadevi. Sushila mesmerized her fans with her exceptional vocal prowess.

On August 18 in Chennai, popular film singer P Sushila (86) fell unwell and was promptly admitted to Kaveri Hospital for treatment. Sushila has been grappling with age-related health issues for some time now. Following an episode of stomach discomfort on Saturday, her family rushed her to the hospital where she received immediate medical attention. Doctors diagnosed her condition as a routine stomach ailment, reassuring that there was no cause for alarm. Hospital sources confirmed her stable condition, and her family members assured that her health was being closely monitored.

Sushila, the esteemed Padma Bhushan awardee, has left an indelible mark on the Telugu film industry through her melodic contributions, resonating with music lovers far and wide. Recognized for her exceptional talent, she has sung over 40,000 songs in various languages and for celebrated actresses, including Savitri, Padmini, and Sarojadevi. Her rendition of the song ‘Like Pal’ from the film Ushresh Manman earned her the National Award for Best Playback Singer. In recent times, Sushila has withdrawn from singing engagements and now resides primarily at home. Well-wishers, fans, and close acquaintances have taken to social media to extend their heartfelt wishes for her speedy recovery after her recent admission to Kaveri Hospital in Alwar Peta, Chennai, due to a decline in health.
