The Telangana government’s ambitious Comprehensive Family Survey is currently in full swing, aiming to gather crucial data on the state’s households for better policy-making and welfare programs. This door-to-door survey, which began on November 6, is progressing efficiently under the close supervision of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Survey Details and Process

The survey is being conducted in the Greater Hyderabad area, and its reach is expanding throughout Telangana. It began with basic information collection between November 6 and 8, followed by a deeper investigation starting from November 9. Enumerators are gathering comprehensive details from families related to social, economic, educational, employment, political, and caste-related factors. This data will be critical in shaping future government initiatives tailored to the state’s diverse population.

To ensure the survey runs smoothly, a nodal officer has been appointed for each of the three circles. Zonal Commissioners and Monitoring Officers are regularly visiting the survey areas, overseeing the process, and ensuring its accuracy. These officials are providing guidance on the registration and coding process as outlined by the government.

Survey Progress So Far

As of Saturday, a total of 149,073 families have been surveyed, bringing the overall total to 841,256 families across the state. The survey has already covered 45% of Telangana’s households. The survey’s extensive reach spans across 51,24,542 houses, divided into 92,901 blocks, with 52,493 rural and 40,901 urban blocks included in the process.

The government has deployed senior IAS officers as monitoring officers at the district level to oversee the comprehensive survey. During a recent briefing, CM Revanth Reddy expressed his satisfaction with the progress, particularly with the gathering of caste-related data, which will be pivotal for future policy planning.

The Importance of the Survey

This survey is a groundbreaking initiative that will help the state government gain a deeper understanding of the socio-economic and cultural dynamics of its population. By collecting detailed data, the Telangana government aims to make informed decisions about welfare schemes, resource distribution, and social justice measures.

The caste census, in particular, will play a significant role in addressing social disparities and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach all sections of society equitably.
