Bhimavaram, December 24: The bizarre discovery of an unidentified body in a wooden box in Yandagandi village, West Godavari district, has sent shockwaves through the region. Police investigations have revealed a shocking tale of blackmail, property disputes, and a calculated murder.
The victim, identified as Barre Parlayya (45) of Kalla village, was a laborer who became an unsuspecting pawn in an elaborate scheme hatched by Sridhar Varma. Parlayya, who led a troubled life marred by family issues and alcoholism, was lured to Sridhar’s house under the pretense of work. Tragically, he was murdered, with the killer using a nylon rope to end his life.
The motive behind the crime was rooted in a property dispute. Sridhar Varma, married into the family that owned the property, sought to claim it by manipulating his in-laws. His greed led him to concoct a plan to intimidate Tulasi, a family member, into transferring property rights. He sent a parcel containing Parlayya’s body to Tulasi’s house, accompanied by a letter demanding ₹1.30 crore.
However, the plan unraveled when Tulasi cleverly alerted her relatives and the police. Sridhar, realizing his scheme had failed, fled the scene but was later arrested in Machilipatnam. The identity of the woman who assisted in sending the parcel remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
This tragic incident sheds light on how greed and desperation can lead to heinous crimes. Parlayya, a man struggling with personal hardships, became an unfortunate victim of circumstances. His death has left his estranged family in mourning and the community in shock.
Authorities are now focusing on bringing all involved parties to justice, ensuring that the victim’s family finds some semblance of closure.
