According to officials, a 700 crore budget was initially allocated for the construction of apartments in Amaravati for legislators and staff. Approximately 80% of the project was finished. With a budget of 1355.39 crore, development on apartments for non-governmental organizations began. Sixty-two percent completed these. With an initial budget of 975.34 crore, the flats for Type I, II, and Group D government officials are 66% completed.
With an outlay of 274.50 crore, construction on the main secretaries’ and secretaries’ bungalows began. Roughly 28.5% of the projects were finished. The works on bungalows for ministers and judges with a budget of 235.50 crore were finished by 27.3 per cent. The works on Judicial Complex – Phase I, costing 115.33 crore, were finished by 95 per cent. Eighty-five percent of the Judicial Complex-Phase II, with a fund of 64.00 crore, is completed.
The Advocates Block with a 23.15 crore budget saw only 5 per cent of the works done. The works on Amaravati CRDA Project Office Phase I, with an outlay of 30crore, were completed by 77 per cent. The Project Office-Phase II, with a budget of *39 crore is complete by 77 per cent. The works on AP high court with a budget of 7860.00 crore were completed by 13 per cent. The works on GAD Tower, with an outlay of 3662.00 crore, were completed by 19 per cent. The Amaravati Government Complex (AGC) works started with a budget of 1556 crore saw only 6 per cent completion.
Eighteen percent of the 1,107.00 crore Amaravati Towers 1 and 2 were finished. Twenty percent of the Amaravati Towers 3 and 4, which had an outlay of 2934 crore, were finished.
On 14.46 acres in the Nelapadu village of Amaravati, the APCRDA launched the “Happy Nest” Project. There were 1200 apartments spread across 12 towers. Plots were sold online on a first-come, first-served basis, and 1187 apartments were immediately reserved in two stages.
In December 2018, tenders with a two-year execution duration and an estimated cost of *720.5 crore were called. A profit of Rs. 57.37 crore was projected. A mere 25% of the works were finished. The Shapporji Pallonji and Co. contract was cancelled. The apartment owners have submitted over 83 petitions to RERA. A total of 177 clients have canceled their reservations and requested a reimbursement of their booking advance. Currently, the project will cost ₹885 crore when assessed at the current rate.
The AP government would work with IIT experts to conduct a research to determine the strength of the Amaravati structures whose construction has been paused, according to Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana. Additionally, it has been agreed to charge IIT Chennai with guaranteeing the Amaravati Iconic Buildings’ structural integrity.
He said that the government will assign officers, workers, and public figures in Hyderabad the duty of guaranteeing the stability of the buildings. “We would proceed to restart the construction based on reports given by the IITS,” he stated.
