Actress Namita has brought forth accusations of discriminatory behavior at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple. She claims that a temple official impolitely requested evidence of her Hindu faith before permitting her and her husband, Veer, to participate in Janmashtami prayers on Monday. Namita used Instagram to express her concerns and sought the intervention of P.K. Sekhar Babu, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments.

In a recorded statement, Namita expressed her disappointment, stating, “I have visited numerous temples before, and no one has ever questioned my religious beliefs because my Hindu background is well known, especially after marrying Veer at the Tirupati Temple. Even my twin sons, named Krishna Aditya and Kian Raj, were born on Janmashtami and are named after Lord Krishna. The issue isn’t about proving my Hindu identity but rather the disrespectful manner in which the inquiry was made.”

She further elaborated, highlighting her feelings of isolation in her own country and place, emphasizing the manner in which the inquiry was conducted rather than the mere act of questioning her faith. The identity of the individual who confronted Namita remains ambiguous, with investigations ongoing to determine the role of the person, whether a temple administrator, public works officer, or another party. Temple authorities have confirmed an ongoing investigation into the incident.
