In an ambitious stride towards enhanced infrastructure, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Roads and Buildings, B.C. Janardhan Reddy, announced the state’s goal of achieving pothole-free roads by Sankranti (January 15, 2025). This initiative, titled the “Pothole Free Roads” mission, will be formally launched by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday in Gajapatinagaram, Vizianagaram district. The government has earmarked ₹290 crore, with an additional ₹220 crore from the State Disaster Management Fund to support this large-scale project.

Following the official launch, road repairs will begin across all districts simultaneously, focusing on quality and timely completion. Post-repair, inspections will ensure that all roads meet safety standards, with the issuance of “pothole-free” certificates. The mission is designed to improve road safety, reduce vehicle maintenance costs, and make Andhra Pradesh an attractive destination for industries and investments.

Highlighting the importance of advanced construction techniques, Janardhan Reddy revealed that the Roads and Buildings Department has formed MOUs with leading institutions, including SRM University and IIT-Tirupati, to leverage cutting-edge road-building technology. With this mission, the government envisions not only safer, smoother travel for its citizens but also a stronger infrastructure foundation for the state’s economic growth.
