Anil Agarwal of Vedanta has emphasized that he raised his children to be resilient individuals, without pampering them or granting special privileges, despite his vast resources. “I have generally been strict with them,” he confessed. The affluent entrepreneur disclosed his parenting principles in a birthday tribute to his youngest daughter, Priya Agarwal Hebbar. Agarwal mentioned how Priya embraced public transportation in London and upheld Indian values despite her diverse upbringing.
Praising Priya for her charitable endeavors, Agarwal recounted, “When she envisioned her passion project YODA (Youth Organization in Defense of Animals) at 16, she independently raised funds and successfully established it without financial assistance from me.” He noted her increasing responsibilities within the company, expressing his immense pride in her achievements. “Though I may not say it often, Priya, you truly make me proud. Pursue your aspirations wholeheartedly. I will forever support you,” Agarwal affirmed before signing off.
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, a graduate in Psychology and Business Management from the University of Warwick, UK, serves as the Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Limited and a non-executive director at Vedanta Limited.
