AP Authorities Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Marijuana Trafficking with Advanced Tech and Strict Measures

The Andhra Pradesh (AP) authorities are stepping up their efforts to eradicate the illegal marijuana trade. With the aid of state-of-the-art drones, they are not only detecting cultivation sites but also creating fear among those involved in the illicit trade. Recent incidents have unveiled new methods being adopted by traffickers, including the use of public transport, sparking widespread debate.

The Bust That Shocked Many

In a recent operation, AP police intercepted an RTC super luxury bus traveling from Vijayawada to Tirupati at the Nellore AC Subbareddy Stadium. During a routine vehicle inspection, officers discovered a suspicious bag onboard. Upon investigation, the bag contained 12 kilograms of marijuana, neatly packed into six packets.

The two individuals responsible, Ilavarasan from Tirucharapalli district and Ragul Dhavakumar from Namakkal district, both from Tamil Nadu, were apprehended on the spot. Along with the contraband, two mobile phones were also seized, providing critical leads for further investigation.

Trafficking Route and Network

Initial interrogations revealed that the accused had purchased the marijuana from a supplier named Govind in Chodavaram, Visakhapatnam district. Their intent was to transport the contraband to Salem, Tamil Nadu, to sell it at a premium rate.

Following this lead, the police launched a raid to capture the supplier and dismantle the network further. Authorities are leaving no stone unturned in identifying and neutralizing all those involved in this illegal trade.

Advanced Measures to Combat the Trade

Authorities are using advanced drones to survey and detect hidden marijuana cultivation sites. These technologies enable them to track the cultivation and movement of marijuana with precision, creating an additional layer of vigilance.

A Warning to Traffickers

The AP police have declared a zero-tolerance policy against marijuana trafficking. “We will not allow the youth to fall prey to the debilitating effects of this drug. Those behind the ganja network will face strict action, irrespective of their numbers or influence,” stated a senior officer.

Conclusion

The authorities’ recent actions signal a strong commitment to curbing the marijuana trade in AP. By employing innovative technologies and conducting rigorous inspections, they aim to set a benchmark in the fight against narcotics.
