In a landmark step toward enhancing tourism and connectivity, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched a seaplane demonstration service between Vijayawada and Srisailam on Saturday. The seaplane service, aimed at tapping into the state’s abundant tourism potential, is part of the Union government’s UDAN-RCS initiative, in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation Limited and AP Tourism Development Corporation. Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, along with Infrastructure Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy and Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, joined the Chief Minister on the inaugural flight from Vijayawada, flying over the Krishna River and toward Srisailam.
Highlighting the potential of this new service, Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that the tourism sector in Andhra Pradesh could soon take a giant leap, creating large-scale employment and bolstering the state’s economy. “The tourism industry offers one of the highest returns on investment, generating up to six times the original investment,” he stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to developing transportation, hotels, and tourist infrastructure. The seaplane service is set to connect major scenic spots in the state, including Gandikota, the ‘Grand Canyon of India,’ the lush green Konaseema region, the renowned Araku coffee plantations, and the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve.
Addressing the issue of safety, Naidu highlighted that maintaining law and order is a priority for tourism growth in Andhra Pradesh, with a commitment to eradicating rowdyism and fostering a safe environment for tourists. Reflecting on his tenure, he mentioned the financial difficulties left by the previous government, stating that the current administration is working diligently to restore Andhra Pradesh’s reputation.
With the launch of this seaplane service, Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector is set for growth, promising economic benefits, employment, and the opportunity to showcase the state’s natural beauty to the world.
