In a landmark announcement, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister of Education, IT, and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, confirmed that the state government will fully support Reliance’s biofuel project, which represents a massive Rs.65,000 crore investment. This agreement, reached within five months of the current administration taking office, aims to establish a network of biofuel plants across the state, starting with a flagship facility in Kanigiri, Prakasam district.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the State Secretariat, with key officials from both the AP government and Reliance Energy present. Lokesh remarked that this rapid agreement marks a significant milestone, achieved just 30 days after discussions with Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Energy Chairman Anant Ambani in Mumbai. This project reflects the state’s commitment to fostering industrial growth and strengthening “ease of doing business” policies.
The Reliance biofuel project aims to emulate and surpass the speed of implementation seen in the Barabanki biofuel project in Uttar Pradesh. Minister Lokesh revealed that the project’s first biofuel plant will break ground on December 28, with plans for 500 plants across Andhra Pradesh within three years. Reliance Energy’s AP spokesperson, Prasad, assured that the first phase of this ambitious project will be completed by December next year.
Minister Lokesh emphasized that this partnership will inspire confidence among the people and attract further investment from the industrial sector. He also expressed gratitude to Mukesh and Anant Ambani for their collaboration in supporting AP’s ambitious goal of creating 20 lakh jobs within five years. The Reliance biofuel project is expected to play a vital role in driving economic growth, job creation, and environmental sustainability in Andhra Pradesh.
