In a shocking turn of events, a man from Hyderabad fell victim to a delivery scam orchestrated by a Swiggy delivery executive. The incident unfolded when the man entrusted the delivery of his laptop to another location through Swiggy’s delivery service. However, instead of safely transporting the laptop, the delivery boy absconded with the valuable item, demanding a hefty ransom for its return.
The man’s wife, Nishita Gudipudi, a civil engineer, took to LinkedIn to share the harrowing experience, which quickly gained traction on social media platforms. According to her account, the husband had utilized Swiggy’s package delivery service, Swiggy Genie, to transfer a laptop in a backpack from one office to another in Madhapur, Hyderabad. Despite the initial pickup of the bag by the delivery partner, suspicions arose when the laptop failed to reach its intended destination.
After futile attempts to contact Swiggy’s customer care, the man received a message on WhatsApp from the delivery boy, demanding a significant sum of money for the laptop’s return. Shocked and alarmed by the extortion attempt, the man sought police intervention to address the fraudulent act. This alarming incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with utilizing delivery services without due diligence.
As the news of this unfortunate event spreads, it serves as a cautionary tale for individuals relying on delivery services for the transportation of valuable items. The trust placed in these services must be accompanied by vigilance and awareness to prevent falling victim to similar scams.
