Rock icon Bryan Adams continues to captivate fans around the world, adding another stellar chapter to his musical legacy with his latest album, So Happy It Hurts. Known for hits like Summer of ’69, Adams’ music has crossed generations, earning him a place among rock’s all-time greats. We recently caught up with him to discuss the inspiration behind his new album, the evolution of his sound, and his highly anticipated holiday release.
When asked about the creative spark for So Happy It Hurts, Adams shared that the pandemic lockdown played a pivotal role. “I’m always working on songs, and with touring on hold, I had the time to focus entirely on creating new music,” he explained. Interestingly, So Happy It Hurts became Adams’ first album in over 20 years to receive a Grammy nomination, making this project a particularly special milestone in his career.
Adams’ music has stood the test of time, retaining its relevance even as trends have shifted. Despite the advancements in digital recording technology, Adams sticks to his core sound, saying, “I don’t really follow the trends; I wouldn’t know how. The songs are different, of course, but the essence of what I do remains the same.” This authenticity is one of the reasons his classics continue to resonate, untouched by the decades since their release.
Reflecting on the enduring appeal of his hits, Adams noted, “I’ve never really analyzed why they’re still popular, but they haven’t been pigeonholed into a timeframe. They’re even more relevant today, which is humbling.”
Looking ahead, Adams teased some exciting new projects, including a live album Live At Royal Albert Hall 2024 slated for release this Christmas, and another new album, Roll With The Punches, expected next year. Fans can look forward to celebrating the holiday season with Adams’ music, as he remains an ever-present influence on the music industry.
