On Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu chaired the first board meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Corridor Development Authority (APICDA) in Amaravati. This meeting marks a significant step towards accelerating the industrial and economic growth of the state. During the meeting, Naidu emphasized the state government’s commitment to fostering rapid industrialization, aiming to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s economy by creating infrastructure that supports growth and investment.
The APICDA, established by the state government, comprises a board and an executive committee. Chaired by the Chief Minister, the board consists of 12 members, including key ministers from industries, commerce, finance, and secretaries from departments such as infrastructure and revenue. The objective of the APICDA is to plan, develop, operate, and manage the state’s industrial corridors and clusters.
At the meeting, the board approved the final master plans for several key industrial nodes within three major corridors: the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (CBIC), the Hyderabad-Bangalore Industrial Corridor (HBIC), and the Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC). Notably, the approved nodes include:
Krishnapatnam Node (10,834.50 acres) under CBIC.
Orvakal Node (9,718.84 acres) under HBIC.
Kopparthy Node (6,740.44 acres) under VCIC.
The board also granted approval for the development of industrial, residential, and commercial layouts within these master plans, a move expected to boost investment in these corridors.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s strategic plan for developing these corridors post-bifurcation, which involved establishing the APICDA and expediting the construction of industrial clusters and infrastructure with financial backing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He stressed the importance of these projects in elevating Andhra Pradesh’s position as a leading industrial hub in India.
Additionally, Naidu addressed the adverse effects of heavy rains and flooding in various districts of Andhra Pradesh. He ordered officials to provide relief by holding special camps for issuing duplicate certificates and documents to affected individuals without any charges. This initiative aims to help citizens recover from the damage caused by recent natural calamities.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the government’s vision to make Andhra Pradesh a beacon of industrial growth through strategic planning, development, and infrastructure building.
