In a significant move, CM Chandrababu Naidu has announced the distribution of free gas cylinders to women in Andhra Pradesh. This long-awaited scheme will kick off from Diwali, with the first cylinder to be provided on the day of the festival. The CM emphasized that each woman will receive three free gas cylinders per year, fulfilling a promise made during the election campaign.
On another front, a new liquor policy is set to take effect in AP starting from October 1. The AP Cabinet has made crucial decisions regarding this policy, including reserving 10 percent of liquor shops for specific castes. Bar license fees have been categorized into four slabs, and efforts have been made to make liquor more affordable by offering a quart for 99 rupees.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has initiated discussions with IMFL companies to ensure the availability of liquor at a special price in AP, lower than that in other states. Quality brands will be prioritized, and premier shops will be established under the new system. Minister Parthasaradhi clarified that premium shops will not be permitted in Temple City Tirupati.
