In a series of impactful events, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced significant initiatives on November 1, marking a momentous day for the state. Launching the Deepam Scheme, which provides three free LPG gas refills annually to white ration card holders, CM Naidu emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting low-income households. The launch event took place in Srikakulam, where the Chief Minister personally distributed the initial free gas refills to eligible families.

Under the Deepam Scheme, the government has allocated ₹2,684 crore per year, fulfilling an election promise to offer free gas to eligible women across the state. As of October 29, over 4 lakh bookings had been made, and oil companies Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil Corporation were ready to handle a daily capacity of 2.5 lakh bookings. A monthly subsidy of ₹876 per cylinder will be directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts within 48 hours, enabling seamless access to free gas refills.

Alongside the scheme launch, CM Naidu directed officials to expedite the modernisation of the Budameru canal to prevent recurring flood damage in Vijayawada. The recent floods exposed the need for long-term solutions, and the CM reviewed a proposal for canal and bund enhancements. Financial support from the central government will assist in reinforcing canal infrastructure and repairing flood-damaged roads. Naidu also urged for the prompt settlement of pending flood insurance claims and compensation for affected small traders.

Further commemorating the success of the Amaravati Drone Summit, the CM congratulated officials and stakeholders for their coordination, which enabled a seamless event along the Krishna River on October 22. With over 5,000 drones in the display, the summit marked a milestone for Andhra Pradesh, showcasing its leadership in drone technology. Department of Investments and Infrastructure Secretary S. Suresh Kumar and AP Drones Corporation MD K. Dinesh Kumar presented a drone memento to the Chief Minister in honor of the achievement.

The Chief Minister’s initiatives reflect his dedication to improving the lives of Andhra Pradesh’s citizens, enhancing infrastructure, and embracing technology for the state’s growth. These developments position Andhra Pradesh as a progressive state aiming to uplift communities while fostering innovation.
