As Vizianagaram prepares for its annual festivals—Vizianagaram Utsavam, Paidithalamma Tolelu, and Sirimanotsavam—the district’s Superintendent of Police, Vakul Jindal, has announced extensive security arrangements to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees. These beloved festivities will take place from October 14 to October 16 in Vizianagaram town, attracting devotees from across the region.

In a media conference held on Sunday, SP Jindal outlined that around 2,000 police personnel will be deployed in two shifts, organized into 25 sectors. The police force will include two additional SPs, 11 Deputy SPs, 61 Circle and Revenue Inspectors, 147 Sub Inspectors, and a dedicated team of women officers, as well as a mix of Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, Constables, Home Guards, and Armed Reserve staff. A temporary command control room will be established near the Paidithalamma Ammavari Temple to oversee these operations.

Enhanced surveillance will be provided by 80 strategically placed closed-circuit cameras and three drone cameras for aerial monitoring. In addition, 20 specialized crime teams comprising 14 experienced officers will patrol the temple areas in plain clothes to prevent pickpocketing and other offenses. To manage emergencies, four Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) with 40 members each will be on standby.

Traffic restrictions will be enforced in nine areas on October 15, the day of Sirimanotsavam, from 8 am to 10 pm. Over 700 officers will manage traffic flow, and 18 designated parking areas will be available for vehicles entering Vizianagaram. A special unit will assist elderly, disabled, and pregnant devotees, while a dedicated team of 24 women officers will be present to handle any cases of eve-teasing. Help desks will be set up at key locations, including the RTC Complex and Kota Junction, to assist devotees.

Local dignitaries, including Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Gajapathi, and other officials, visited the Pydithalli Temple on Sunday to review preparations for the Sirimanu festival. As the chief guest for the event’s inauguration, Speaker Patrudu was presented with Tirthaprasad and a portrait of the goddess by the temple’s Executive Officer, Prasada Rao. State Minister for MSME and industries Kondapalli Srinivas and other dignitaries accompanied the Speaker, performing pujas and marking their support for these revered celebrations.

With these comprehensive arrangements, the district police aim to provide a safe and enjoyable festival experience for all attendees, honoring the cultural and spiritual significance of these events in Vizianagaram.
