Congress Government in Telangana Plans Grand First Anniversary Celebrations with Focus on Welfare Programs
The Congress government in Telangana is preparing for a large-scale celebration to mark its first anniversary in power, with an emphasis on promoting the welfare programs implemented throughout the year. The government plans to highlight its achievements, including various schemes aimed at uplifting women, farmers, and the general population. These initiatives will be showcased in a grand public relations campaign aimed at emphasizing the government’s commitment to development.
Celebrations Begin on November 14
The celebrations will commence on November 14, the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The state has planned 26 days of festivities, culminating in a major event on December 9, the actual anniversary of the Congress party’s ascension to power in Telangana. A cabinet sub-committee has been set up to oversee the celebrations, and the committee recently met at the secretariat to discuss the plans in detail.
Welfare Programs to Be Highlighted
A major aspect of the celebrations will be showcasing the welfare programs implemented by the Congress government in Telangana. These include several initiatives aimed at easing the financial burden on the public, such as:
- Free bus services for women
- 200 units of free electricity
- Subsidized ₹500 gas cylinders
- A massive ₹18,000 crore loan waiver for farmers
- Interest-free loans totaling ₹20,000 crore for women’s groups
These welfare schemes, along with others, will be prominently featured during the celebrations to demonstrate the government’s efforts to improve the lives of its citizens.
Development Projects and Inaugurations
The celebrations will also include the inauguration of several key development projects. On December 9, in particular, the government will lay the foundation stone for the new building of Osmania General Hospital in Police Grounds, Goshamahal. Additionally, a new Disaster Response Force will be launched, and the construction of a sports university, nursing colleges, and paramedical colleges will be announced. The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) Group 4 appointment documents will also be distributed to selected candidates on December 9.
The event will feature grand festivities, including a laser show and a crackers display, with thousands of artists performing across Hyderabad, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city.
Government’s Public Relations Strategy
The government’s focus on publicizing these achievements is seen as a strategic move to bolster its image ahead of upcoming elections. By promoting its welfare schemes and developmental work, the Congress government aims to reinforce its commitment to the state’s progress and its vision for the future.
As Telangana enters the second year under Congress rule, these celebrations will serve as both a reflection on the past year’s work and a promise of continued development for the people of the state.
