In a courageous act of heroism, a local young man named Prajeesh undertook multiple perilous journeys up a treacherous hill path to rescue numerous stranded individuals following devastating landslides in Wayanad’s high-range Mundakkai. Despite his valiant efforts, Prajeesh is now missing after embarking on a third rescue mission, leaving behind only his damaged jeep at Chooralmala. The community is torn between fears of the worst and hopes for his safe return.
Risking his life, Prajeesh bravely drove his vehicle up the hill a third time, only to be engulfed by the raging floodwaters, mud, and cascading boulders that descended from the mountains. This harrowing ordeal marked the tragic turn of events for Prajeesh, who had selflessly dedicated himself to saving lives in the wake of the landslides that struck the region on July 30. The residents of Chooralmala now affectionately refer to him as their “superhero.”
Hailing from the landslide-affected Chooralmala, Prajeesh was already esteemed by the villagers for his altruistic nature and willingness to assist anyone in need. Witnessing the initial landslides in Mundakkai, Prajeesh undertook two daring journeys up the hill to bring back stranded individuals before setting out to relocate with his family. However, a subsequent call prompted him to make a final ascent up the hill, a journey from which he did not return.
Prajeesh’s abandoned jeep was later discovered in Chooralmala town, yet there have been no sightings of him since. The community remains hopeful for his safe return, holding onto memories of his selfless acts of bravery and unwavering dedication to aiding others in times of crisis.
