Daring Robbery by Goldsmiths Shocks Vizianagaram: Arrests Made and Hunt for Accomplices Continues

In Vizianagaram district, a daring robbery took place on August 21, 2024, involving a group of five individuals, three of whom were goldsmiths. The victims, Dilwar Hussain Malik and his employer, Sheikh Nazir, were ambushed near Appannavalasa village while returning from Vizianagaram town. The criminals, riding a motorcycle, used pepper spray to incapacitate Malik and Nazir before demanding their valuables under threat of violence. When the victims insisted they had nothing to offer, one of the assailants fired a warning shot, injuring Malik’s hands. The robbers made off with two mobile phones and 2,800 in cash before fleeing.

After a thorough investigation, the authorities arrested Mubarak Mollah, Abbir Hussain Mollah, and Safiruddin Ghazi, all of whom were goldsmiths. Allegedly, the trio had conspired to rob Nazir, who was transporting gold ornaments for hallmarking in Vizianagaram. To execute their plan, they enlisted the help of two associates, Bappi and Rahim, from West Bengal. The Garividi police have recovered the motorcycle used in the crime and are actively seeking Bappi and Rahim, who are currently evading capture.
