Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan took a strong stand on environmental protection and law enforcement at a public event in Kakinada district on Monday. Addressing concerns raised by farmers and fishermen from U. Kothapalli and Thondangi mandals, he warned pharmaceutical companies like Aurobindo and Divi’s, setting up operations in the Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ), against polluting the sea and the surrounding environment. The Deputy CM emphasized that while the government encourages industrial growth, it will not tolerate environmental harm.

Responding to the locals’ complaints about potential pollution, he instructed District Collector S. Shan Mohan to review pollution data from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) and ensure strict measures are taken. “Pharma companies need to act responsibly, and PCB officials should not offer empty assurances,” he declared, stressing that the state government would prioritize the well-being of the local fishing sector and environmental health over industrial gains.

Pawan Kalyan also addressed the safety of women and children in the state, issuing an ultimatum to the home ministry. Shaken by reports of harassment and criminal behavior, he promised stricter law enforcement. He criticized the perceived leniency of the new DGP and called for the state police to enforce the law without biases based on caste or religion. The Deputy CM recalled cases from previous administrations and warned that the current government will take immediate and firm action to restore law and order, saying, “Criminals should not mistake the government’s patience for weakness.”

Development Initiatives in Pithapuram Constituency

Alongside his firm stance on law and environmental protection, Pawan Kalyan announced several development projects for Pithapuram constituency, which include:

  • Road Infrastructure: Construction of 223 CC roads costing ₹14.48 crore.
  • Healthcare Upgrades: Expansion of Pithapuram Hospital to a 100-bed facility.
  • Bridge Construction: New bridges on the Suddagadda canal and at Surampeta.
  • Education Facilities: Upgrading a primary school to a high school in U. Kothapalli mandal, with new buildings.
  • Support for SC Communities: Acquisition of 22 cents of land for the burial ground for the SC community in Vannepudi.

In his address to students, the Deputy CM encouraged them to focus on skill development, self-protection, and report harassment without hesitation. “Your safety and security are priorities,” he reassured.
