District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad has unveiled plans to enhance library facilities across the district, with strong backing from the state government and active involvement of the Education Minister. Speaking at the inauguration of the 57th National Library Week at the District Central Library, Prasad shared a vision of libraries as transformative spaces that empower communities.
Reflecting on the Education Minister’s recent visit to local libraries, Prasad outlined several improvement initiatives, assuring attendees that special measures are underway to improve library services. He emphasized the importance of libraries in uplifting society, stating:
Prasad urged students and young people to embrace the joy of reading and engage with literature to achieve their goals. Concerned about the excessive time spent on mobile devices, he encouraged the youth to redirect their focus toward the wealth of knowledge found in libraries.
He highlighted that all district libraries are well-stocked with diverse collections of books and magazines, inviting the community to make full use of these resources. Prasad expressed hope that regular reading habits would be cultivated across the district, reinforcing the essential role of libraries in spreading knowledge and combating poverty.
The event drew a large audience, including DEO N. Prem Kumar, Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Secretary R.C.H. Venkata Rao, and a host of students. Their presence underscored the community’s shared commitment to fostering a culture of reading.
National Library Week serves as a timely reminder of the invaluable contribution libraries make to society and the importance of preserving and advancing their role in education and development.
