Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh announced initiatives to establish the prestigious Telugu University in Rajamahendravaram, recognizing the city as an ideal location due to its cultural significance. The minister shared this vision while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on “Andhra Pradesh Cultural Glory,” co-hosted by AdiKavi Nannayya University College of Arts and Commerce, the Andhra Pradesh Rashtra Srujanatmaka and Samskrithika Samithi, and the Centre for Andhra Pradesh.
Durgesh highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s rich cultural legacy, including its historical traditions, literature, fine arts, and unique art forms such as Padya Natakam (verse drama), which holds a distinct place in Telugu culture. He urged experts, academics, and artists to promote Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage globally, emphasizing that Rajamahendravaram could become a cultural hub through the establishment of the Telugu University.
During the event, Rajanagaram MLA Bathula Bala Ramakrishna extended gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, Education Minister Nara Lokesh, and Minister Durgesh for their support in the development of AdiKavi Nannayya University. The university’s vice chancellor, Y. Srinivasa Rao, expressed pride in providing a peaceful and high-quality educational environment, emphasizing that it aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s mission to advance its cultural and educational prominence.
The establishment of a Telugu University in Rajamahendravaram is expected to be a pivotal move, drawing attention to Andhra Pradesh’s historical and literary achievements and fostering a deeper appreciation for its cultural contributions.
