A group of three students from Siddhartha Government Medical College have taken their pursuit of justice beyond protests and candlelight vigils by launching a campaign to raise awareness among young people about rape culture and the necessity of prompt actions. Recently, they organized a workshop at V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College in collaboration with Disha Vidyarthi Sangam and the Progressive Doctors’ Association. Eesha Nimmakayala, K. Alykhya, and Rohan Pandey, all final-year students, delved deep into the normalization of rape culture in society through various forms of media, such as films and peer discussions. The workshop emphasized the significance of eradicating victim-blaming attitudes and comprehending the mindset of offenders. Strategies for preventing and intervening in instances of rape were also deliberated. Participants made a commitment to contribute towards fostering a safer environment for women, with Advocate Amulya from the association lending support to the cause.
