This highly anticipated event, a highlight of the city’s Navy Day celebrations, ensures an unforgettable experience for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. More than a mere race, the VNM provides an opportunity to discover the enchanting landscapes of Vizag while participating in a top-tier marathon event.
Local residents can strap on their running shoes and sign up online starting from August 15th through the sleek and newly launched website: www.vizagnavymarathon.run. During a recent press briefing, the VNM team introduced the updated website and registration particulars. Cmde Pradeep Patel, Commanding Officer of INS Kalinga and the organizer of the VNM race, cordially welcomed all citizens, urging widespread participation.
“Embrace a healthier lifestyle while immersing yourself in the beauty of our city’s coastline,” he expressed. To assist runners in their preparations, the VNM team is arranging monthly promotional runs and training sessions on the first Sunday at Dolphin Hill and RK Beach. Whether you are a seasoned marathon runner or a casual jogger, the VNM accommodates everyone.
Select your challenge from the four distinct race categories: 42K, 21K, 10K, and 5K. The race route, accredited by the Association of International Marathons, was also disclosed at the briefing. Winners in each category will compete for a total prize pool of around 10 lakh. Special reductions in registration fees for Visakhapatnam residents enhance the excitement, along with enhanced features such as goodie bags filled with refreshing snacks, complimentary T-shirts, participation certificates, and thrilling lucky draw entries.
The Black Buck, serving as the official mascot for the 9th VNM, represents the enduring bond between the Indian Navy and Andhra Pradesh. This magnificent state animal is also featured on the crest of INS Visakhapatnam. Moreover, the event advocates for environmental awareness, endorsing the government’s Reduce-Reuse-Recycle policy and striving for a race free of plastic waste.
