No matter how many strict measures are being taken to control the smuggling of gold, smugglers continue to find creative ways to evade detection. Recently, a shocking incident unfolded at Bangalore airport where customs officials apprehended three Sri Lankan nationals attempting to smuggle a significant amount of gold into India. The accused had concealed 1,670.92 grams of gold in their private parts in the form of a paste. The gold, valued at around Rs. 20 lakhs, was discovered during a thorough inspection by customs authorities.

The Sri Lankan nationals had arrived at Kempegowda International Airport on August 31 on flight 6E-1168 from Colombo. Acting on prior information, the customs team intercepted the suspects and upon examination, found the illicit gold hidden in their rectums. Subsequently, the gold was safely removed under medical supervision, and the authorities have seized the contraband and initiated legal proceedings against the smugglers.

Customs and police efforts to combat gold smuggling are ongoing, but incidents like this serve as a stark reminder of the challenges faced in curbing illegal activities. The case underscores the lengths to which smugglers will go to circumvent security measures and the vigilance required by law enforcement agencies to combat such criminal activities effectively.
