The Andhra Pradesh government has delivered great news for pensioners. In a recent announcement, the government revealed that applications for new pensions will be accepted starting from the first week of December. This move is set to benefit many citizens who have been eagerly awaiting their pension under the NTR Bharosa Pension scheme. However, the full procedures for application will be disclosed soon.

Pension Increase and Arrears Paid

The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh took immediate action to benefit pensioners upon coming to power. One of the first decisions was to increase the social pensions. Under the NTR Bharosa Pension, the government has raised the pension amount to ₹4,000. This increase comes along with the payment of pension arrears, which have been paid starting from April 2024 as part of the pre-election promises.

Currently, 64,14,174 people in the state are receiving pensions under this scheme. A wide range of individuals, including senior citizens, disabled persons, and those suffering from conditions like thalassemia, are eligible for these pensions.

Application Process for New Pensions

The new development regarding pension applications has raised anticipation among the public. Minister Kondapalli Srinivas has confirmed that eligible pensioners will be able to submit their applications starting from the first week of December. Pension applicants will need to visit their local village or ward secretariat after December 1 to apply for their pension. Detailed guidelines and the complete application process will be announced soon.

Pension Disbursement and Eligibility Monitoring

To ensure smooth and continuous pension distribution, the government has also addressed concerns about recipients who may be temporarily absent from their villages. If a pensioner is absent for one or two months, the minister instructed officials to ensure that the pension amount will be disbursed together in the following month.

However, the government is also taking strong measures to ensure the integrity of the system. If any ineligible person is found to be receiving a pension through fake certificates, immediate action will be taken against them.

Conclusion

This announcement brings much-needed clarity and optimism for the people of Andhra Pradesh who are eagerly awaiting the new pensions. With applications opening in December, eligible citizens will soon be able to access the benefits they have been waiting for. The government’s commitment to increasing pension amounts and ensuring transparency will go a long way in supporting the welfare of the state’s most vulnerable populations.
