The government of Andhra Pradesh has officially declared Dussehra holidays for schools starting from October 3. State Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh made the announcement following a high-level review meeting held at his residence in Undavalli. The decision to grant 11 days of holidays, from October 3 to 13, was made in response to requests from teachers and various associations, with Christian minority institutions also included in the holiday schedule.
During the review session, Minister Lokesh emphasized the importance of strengthening school education by implementing measures to enhance the quality of education in the state. He instructed authorities to observe National Education Day on November 11 and to arrange a Mega Parents Teachers’ Meeting on November 14 to foster better communication and collaboration within the education system.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted the need for quarterly reviews to monitor and improve school performance. He commended the progress observed during a surprise visit to Srikakulam Municipal Elementary School and Akanambattu High School, noting the students’ impressive handwriting and skills. Minister Lokesh recommended examining methods to enhance students’ handwriting across all schools in the state, citing the successful classroom repairs at Srikakulam school accomplished with a minimal budget of Rs.50 thousand.
