On Saturday, a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal moved inland near Chilika Lake, resulting in heavy rainfall across Rayalaseema and the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that rain will continue in various parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

According to the IMD in Amaravati, the depression will move west-northwestward through Odisha and Chhattisgarh, gradually weakening by Sunday morning.

In response to the heavy rains, officials in the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district have relocated families from vulnerable areas for safety.

Due to the persistent rainfall over the last two days, many streams and rivulets in the ASR district are overflowing, causing road closures and uprooted trees.
