Heavy Rains and Rising River Threaten Bihar: Schools Closed for Safety

Heavy monsoon rains have been wreaking havoc across multiple states in India, leading to waterlogging, floods, and a looming danger in Bihar. The continuous downpour has caused rivers and streams to overflow, posing a risk to low-lying areas. The Ganga river in Bihar is now on the brink of danger as its water level continues to rise alarmingly. Local residents are anxious about the impending threat and the Bihar government has been put on high alert.

In response to the escalating situation, authorities have taken precautionary measures by closing several schools in the Patna district. The closure of 76 government schools in rural areas until August 31 aims to ensure the safety of students and teachers. District Collector Chandrasekhar Singh has issued the necessary orders to safeguard the community from potential risks.

Recently, a tragic incident occurred where a teacher from a government school near Patna was swept away by the rising floodwaters of the Ganga river. This unfortunate event prompted the district administration to declare holidays as a preventive measure, prioritizing the safety of students and avoiding any untoward incidents.
