Aamir Khan recently disclosed how his former life and the world he shared with his wife Kiran Rao and other family members were effectively left behind, as they knew him better than he knew himself. During a podcast with Rhea Chakraborty, the actor-filmmaker revealed that he had intended to step away from the world of cinema three years ago to prioritize spending time with his family. However, Kiran’s reaction to this decision was one of shock and tears. She expressed to him, “You are meant for cinema, and if you walk away from it, you are relinquishing life and the world.” Aamir shared that Kiran believed that by exiting the film industry, he would be forsaking a fundamental part of his identity, considering cinema to be intrinsic to who he is.
Moreover, Aamir mentioned that his children also responded with dismay to his choice. Their perspective was along the lines of, “Dad, how could you possibly retire from films? You’ve been deeply involved for the past 30 years. You might feel emotional now and be saying this, but you won’t be able to follow through.” Aamir acknowledged that although he didn’t realize it at the time, Kiran’s evaluation was accurate, and his children were also correct in their assessment.
