The recent comments made by actor-politician Kangana Ranaut targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi have sparked criticism from social media users. During an interview with Manak Gupta of News 24, the BJP MP from Manali raised doubts about Rahul Gandhi’s suitability for the role of Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.
In response to a question about Rahul Gandhi’s qualifications for the position, Kangana Ranaut provocatively asked, “Opposition leader karne k liye unhone kya teer mara hai? Can you tell me?” When confronted with the fact that the Congress had secured 99 seats in the recent elections, the actress simply shrugged off the information and declined to elaborate further, stating, “Agar aapko aese baat karni hai toh phir uska koi jawab ho hi nahi sakta (If you want to talk like this then there can be no answer to it).”
A frustrated netizen remarked, “Elect a clown, expect a circus,” capturing the sentiment of many social media users who viewed Kangana’s behavior as inappropriate for a parliamentary setting, urging Bollywood to distance itself from her.
Interestingly, Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Emergency delves into the controversial period of Indian history marked by the imposition of ‘Emergency’ rule. Notably, she not only leads the cast but also directs the film, portraying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
