The CM met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday evening, discussing crucial projects and policies that impact the state.

Godavari-Pennar Interlinking Gets Green Signal

Telugu Desam MP Lavu Krishnadevarayalu announced that the Centre has approved the interlinking of the Godavari and Pennar rivers. This project is vital for the socio-economic development of the backward Rayalaseema region and the combined Prakasam district. The interlinking will address water scarcity and support agricultural and industrial growth in these areas.

Polavaram Project to Receive Central Cooperation

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured the Chief Minister of full cooperation in completing the Polavaram project, a lifeline for Andhra Pradesh. Sitharaman also responded positively to the CM’s appeal to relax GST by 1% to assist Vijayawada, which recently faced extensive damage due to heavy rains.

Reviving Amaravati with Singapore’s Partnership

Discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar led to a promising development for Amaravati, the proposed capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The CM’s appeal to revive Singapore’s participation in Amaravati’s development received a favorable response. Singapore’s involvement is expected to bring expertise and international attention to the capital project.

Dialogue on US-India Relations and Indian Students

The Chief Minister and Jaishankar also deliberated on the impact of the newly-elected US administration on India’s economy. They discussed the measures to support Indian students pursuing higher education in the United States, ensuring smoother pathways for international opportunities.

These discussions underline the proactive efforts of the state government in securing national and international collaborations for Andhra Pradesh’s growth and addressing key developmental challenges. The focus on infrastructure, education, and economic recovery showcases a forward-thinking approach to governance.
