During the upcoming three months, registrations will be put on hold until the Gram Sabhas take place in this particular context. The Cabinet has given its approval for the revocation of GO Rt217 and GO Rt144, which previously restricted fishermen from obtaining government ponds on lease. Eleven court cases, consisting of seven writ petitions and four writ appeals, have been filed by numerous fishermen and associations seeking the annulment of these two GOS, as highlighted during the cabinet meeting. The Chief Minister has proposed the development of a comprehensive action plan aimed at benefiting the families of these fishermen, which will be presented at the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Furthermore, the Cabinet has endorsed the proposals to revoke the legislative amendments introduced in the Municipal Corporation Act 1955 and the Municipalities Act 1965, which prohibited individuals with more than two children from running in municipal elections or serving as members of such bodies. Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the repeal of the amendment to Section 19 of the Panchayat Raj Act 1994, which disqualified individuals with more than two children from contesting panchayat elections, as highlighted by Parthasarathy.

Moreover, the cabinet has given the green light to filling 380 additional positions, in addition to the previously approved positions, in the new medical colleges located in Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Eluru, Machilipatnam, and Nandyal in accordance with the National Medical Commission’s regulations under Phase-1. Additionally, a proposal has been approved by the cabinet to commence the first-year MBBS course with 100 seats for the academic year 2024-25 in the new medical colleges established in Paderu, Markapur, Pulivendula, Adoni, and Madanapalle under Phase II. Furthermore, a decision has been made to revoke the land allocated to the gram panchayat of Nandyala district’s Sundiperta (Srisailam Project) and transfer it to the irrigation department in compliance with GO 40 issued on May 11 last year.
