Several districts in Andhra Pradesh have reported seasonal fevers following the recent rains and shifts in climate conditions. Despite the situation, health officials have reassured that there is no cause for alarm. According to the health department, individuals are experiencing fevers lasting two to three days, accompanied by weakness and body pain that can persist for around 10 days. Those who have previously had Covid-19 are taking longer to recover from these symptoms due to decreased immunity levels.
Health authorities have noted an average of 200 to 300 fever cases per week, which is consistent with last year’s figures and not considered unusual. To address the situation, health teams are conducting door-to-door surveys in areas with high fever prevalence, leading to an increase in patients seeking treatment at government hospitals. Medical professionals are prepared with ample supplies of medications, testing kits, and IV fluids to manage and support patient recovery.
In response to the situation, local village councils are prioritizing sanitation efforts by disinfecting areas, while rural water authorities are ensuring safe drinking water supplies. Officials are urging the public to maintain hygienic practices, use safe water sources, and promptly seek medical assistance from nearby government health facilities.
Dr. Padmavathi, the Health Director, emphasized that while there is a rise in fever cases due to climate changes, the situation is not critical. People are advised to promptly seek medical care at the nearest health centers for proper treatment.
