Renowned designer Manish Malhotra has introduced his exclusive ‘World Collection’ at the Private Shopping Penthouse of Harrods London, a members-only club, marking his distinction as the first Indian designer to showcase his creations at this prestigious venue. With a career spanning over three decades, Malhotra will exhibit his latest clothing line from September 16 to September 29 in collaboration with Harrods, coinciding with the luxury department store’s 175th anniversary celebration.
Described as an artistic homage to the craftsmanship of India, reimagined for the modern era, the ‘World Collection’ features designs inspired by the elegant drapes of traditional saris, including gowns, saree-gowns, and brocade jackets adorned with intricate zardozi, chikankari, and gota patti embroidery techniques. Luxurious fabrics such as silks, velvets, and chiffons are skillfully blended to reflect the opulence of India’s heritage while incorporating contemporary elements.
Among the stunning ensembles crafted by Malhotra is a special piece commemorating Harrods’ 175 years, integrating the iconic Harrods greens into the design. Each garment not only showcases the grandeur of Indian aesthetics but also pays tribute to the enduring legacy of its skilled artisans, according to the release.
