Nandamuri Balakrishna has reportedly turned down the opportunity to remake the popular Malayalam film Aavesham due to his preference for roles that are straightforward. It seems he was not interested in portraying a benevolent gangster, a character portrayed by Fahad Faasil. According to a source, he avoids roles that have ambiguous or negative qualities, believing that a hero should always embody positive values and fight against wrongdoing rather than embody it.
In a similar vein, Balakrishna declined to take on the role originally played by Mohan Lal in the Telugu adaptation of Jilla because it had dark undertones. Despite expressing interest in working on a project with Kalyan Ram and watching Jilla for inspiration, he ultimately declined to reprise Mohan Lal’s character due to its negative aspects, encouraging Kalyan Ram to explore other script options for their collaboration.
Known for his success in portraying intense and powerful characters in hit films like Akhanda and Veera Simha Reddy, Balakrishna is committed to continuing to depict larger-than-life roles that align with his values. While some may view his approach as traditional, he remains steadfast in his commitment to inspiring his dedicated fan base to make positive contributions to society.
